Zoo's Ferret Sanctuary
Magnificent Seven

The Magnificent Seven were surrendered to the Sanctuary on October 24th, 2002, due to their previous owner's medical condition.  The Magnificent Seven are: Zorro, Buddy, Bonnie, Duke, Snort, Emma, and Zoey.  Please check back for pictures and updates on these little ones!

UPDATE 2/17/03
Buddy has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  He passed right after midnight this morning of what preliminary autopsy shows to be liver and intestinal problems.  We will miss you, Buddy...

UPDATE : June 9, 2006.

We have lost Snort. He was adrenal, & on lupron for his last 2 1/2 years. He looked, acted, & played like a totally happy ferret. He lived it fully, clear until the end...

We will miss him.

UPDATE:March 30, 2005

We have lost our Zoey7. It wasn`t the adrenal disease that took her. She had a tumor in her tummy. She showed no signs of illness. She just went to sleep last night---and never woke up. Zoey was getting up in years, but she lived it to the fullest. We will miss our sweet little sable girl.

Rest in Peace, Zoey7.

UPDATE: October 19th 2006:

Emma Leigh is gone. More cancer. I hate it...I will miss our tiny champagne girl. She got along well with every ferret she ever met. She ate all human flesh but mine. She trusted me--and I trusted her with my face(which isn`t too beautiful anyway)

Another grave to dig. I am so heavy-hearted...

UPDATE January 12, 2007:

On December 21, 2006, we lost our Zorro--my little kisser boy. He gave the best kisses in the room...

Necropsy showed a primary liver issue. Dr Durst has allowed me to sit in on the necropsies, and I am so grateful to her. It`s hard enough to lose one--but it helps to know what the enemy was. Without a necropsy, there are so many unanswered questions...

In some small way, it is comforting to know there is nothing ANYONE could have done to save him.

I will really miss cuddling with him---and his sweet kisses. He was just the best...

More later.

It is hard enough for some who love their babies to give them up.  Zoo's gives them the security of knowing exactly where their babies are, and the opportunity to keep in touch if they so desire.  It is always heartwarming to see someone who has surrendered their ferrets return to the sanctuary for a visit with their babies!
