George was in bad shape |
George, the next day (May 3, 2006) |

Feeling better already! |

George is about four years old. We are his third, & last home. This was
George the day he came to us (May 2, 2006) He had a large, open, bleeding tumor on his neck, & was just just lying at
the bottom of the cage, when we went on the rescue. The lady said she thought he was dying, & she could find no one to
take him...The ops manager at Petco recommended that she call us...

George went in for surgery, the next day. His ADV test was negative, the
huge tissure specimen was sent to the lab, and was also negative.
The needle biopsy of the lump under his chin showed cancer cells. The vet
recommended we leave that one alone--and I agreed. Have only seen this twice before--and both were nasty. His lymph nodes
in armpits & inner thighs are enlarged. The vet suspects lymphoma... |

UPDATED JULY 3, 2006:

Below is a new picture of George. We can`t change the fact that he has lymphoma--but
we CAN change the WAY he spends his last days/weeks/months/ or years!! He
is playing now, as if he will live forever! He is having FUN!!! Lots & lots of fun.
His fur has (almost!) all grown back from his surgery. He is such a happy
boy! He just LOVES running all around the room. (Wouldn`t ANYONE who had been caged for over a year???)
This isn`t the best picture--because it`s hard to get him to sit STILL long enough!! Quite
a change, from that afternoon on May 2, when we brought this boy home...
