On August 18th, 2003, I got a call from my friend Reanee, who lives in Michigan. Her sister had called, from Dixon, Illinois
to say there was an animal trapped in their garage. It looked like reanee`s ferrets--but they were afraid it might be a wild
weasel. Reanee`s sister lives way out in the country. Reanee was asking us to go to Dixon, and see what the story was.If it
was a ferret, she was asking us to take it in.
We took the hour drive, discovered it WAS a ferret, and brought her home. She was dehydrated, and very weak & shakey.
Her coat was rough. After the flea bath, there were 25 dead little flea bodies lying on the countertop!!! At first, we
thought she looked older, but after rest, and proper nutrition, she looks to be about 1 1/2 years old. She`s gentle, understands
how to climb the cage & get safely down, and is very playful. She has been in quarantine, but is now being integrated
into the room. I can`t understand who would throw a sweet little girl like this away, but it won`t happen again. !!!!
Because Reanee`s sister lives on Dutch Road, we have named the little girl "Dutchess"
